Join organic market garden expert Jim Cronin for a series of in-depth, 1-day courses on individual crop families. Day 2 will be on chenopodiaceae (beetroot and spinach / leaf beet) on Jim’s Farm in Co Clare on March 19th, 2025.

This year, we are hosting a number of specific crop days – each day is dedicated to a specific family. Day 2 is on the chenopodiaceae family. It is possible to come for a single day depending on your preference as we will go from seed to harvest for each crop family.

Spinach is an all year round crop giving turnover every week of the year. The crop is grown in a polytunnel and then outdoors for the summer months. We will cover all aspects in how to have a healthy, vibrant crop. Beetroot is a crop which is in demand. It can be a standalone crop if you sourced a customer such as a juicing company. We will cover:

• Seed sowing
• Spacings
• Varieties
• Weed control
• Bunching for sale
• Financial returns
