Get an in-depth introduction to soil health, compost, and biostimulants with a full day intensive course in Tipperary. NOTS are delighted to present this practical 1-day soil health and composting workshop run by expert soil biologist and DANÚ Group member Dave Beecher.

Dave will share some of the main findings of his research by illustrating how a biological system functions, and how – by working with nature – you can reduce your fertilizer costs. The first half of the day will outline the basics and introductory methods behind soil health, while the second half of the day will be a practical session on the farm of Tommy Tierney.

Tommy will explain how he has put this knowledge into practice in order to reduce his chemical bill. Compost is a key component; and participants will make a hot compost pile. Participants will also gain an understanding of the importance of; Using the right balance of ingredients, Correct moisture levels, Monitoring/controlling temperature; and Following the correct turning schedule. Tommy will also detail how he uses compost & other biostimulants on his farm.

  • 11.10am – 12.00pm – Intro to Making Compost Tea/ Extracts & Other Biostimulants
  • 12.00pm – 1.00pm – Lunch (Included in course fee)
  • 1.00pm – 4.00pm – Practical / On-farm demo on compost making, compost extracts, and other biostimulants

Full price of the course is €100 – less 25% Skillnet funding which leaves the cost of the course at €75 payable to NOTS.

What to bring:
