Professional Floristry Skills – Employment Activation Programme (EAP)

National Organic Training Skillnet has received funding from Skillnet Ireland for training courses through the Employment Activation Programme (EAP) initiative in 2018. The EAP is a 100% government funded initiative aimed solely at training unemployed people. It provides skills which are in demand by industry, combined with direct access to employers through securing a work placement.

Programme Aim:

This programme will equip participants with both the technical & business knowledge and skills necessary to effectively run their own successful floristry business.

Programme Objectives:

At the end of this training programme participants will be able to:
• Examine modern floristry and the requirements to be successful in the trade
• Assemble, Prepare & Wrap a range of commercial flower arrangements for different occasions [to include hand tied    floral tributes, funeral tributes, wedding flowers & festive arrangements] to meet quality technical and aesthetic requirements
• Develop a standard costing formula and calculate retail cost for a diverse range of floral designs
• Demonstrate the principles of stock control
• Explore the realities and practicalities of running your own Floristry business
• Explore how to complete a business plan

➢ Receipt/Ordering Stock Control
➢ Business Set up/Record Keeping
➢ Business Planning/Networking for Business

Week 5

➢ Plan & Assemble Wedding Flowers
➢ Funeral tributes

Trainee Profile

This programme is designed for both start up and established floristry businesses and will be tailored to address the needs of each participant as required.

Duration

This is a 10-day course ran over a 5 week period, 2 days per week + 5 days work placement.

Certification

You will receive a National Organic Training Skillnet “Professional Floristry Skills” certificate.

  • Week 4 – 7th & 8th January (With Trainer: Orla Leyden @ Creggan Court Hotel)
  • Week 5 – 14th & 15th January

A Room in Bloom, Garden Vale , Athlone, Co. Westmeath.

Please note the first day 26th of November 2018 and the 8th of January 2019 will take place offsite.

The venue for these 2 offsite days will take place in The Creggan Court Hotel, Kilmartin N6 Centre, N37 YW25., Dublin Rd, Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
